Compensation & Benefits This position has a starting base salary range of $75,000-$95,000 (depending on experience) and includes eligibility to earn an annual bonus of up to 20% of base salary.
HOW YOU WILL CONTRIBUTE (Overview & Key Responsibilities) As a Product & Materials Proposal Writer, you will work closely with Business Development (Sales) and Operations to generate proposals/quotes, statements of work (SOWs), and change orders that meet the needs of the client in terms of scope, price, timeline, and deliverables while ensuring the request is a good fit for the facility from a capabilities and capacity perspective.
The main responsibility of a Proposal Writer is to own the technical aspects of the proposal process. To develop the scope and pricing for both new and ongoing projects and ensure scopes are adequately reviewed before being delivered to sales or the client. The Proposal Writer is expected to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to ensure appropriate technical and commercial input into proposals, applying one's own technical knowledge and the input from key stakeholders and the client.
- Lead the proposal process and liaise with Business Development, clients, and key department stakeholders for the timely generation of quotes, SOWs, and change orders
- Evaluate incoming RFQs (Request for Quotes) with Business Development to ensure alignment of the request and information required.
- Support Business Development clarifying any aspects of quotes or changes orders
- Ensure new opportunities are a good fit for the lab location in terms of capabilities and available capacity
- Solicit quotes / pricing from our approved lab partners for outsourced testing as needed
- Lead and/or participate in technical review meetings with prospective clients and current clients to collect relevant information required to draft comprehensive proposals
- Proactively manage and prioritize multiple quotes/proposals in various stages of completion in the quoting process.
- Partner with Business Development and Project Management as the primary customer-facing team, establishing project governance and effective communication between the customer, lab managers, and site heads
- Provide support to Business Development to facilitate efficient advancement of opportunities through the pipeline.
- Support client site visits by assisting Business Development and Project Management in the planning and execution of the site visit
- Assist and/or lead strategic continuous improvement projects at the site to develop more robust business processes and streamline current practices
- Other duties, as assigned
WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED (Minimum Qualifications)- Minimum Education Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (MS Mechanical Engineering preferred), OR related degree in the Life Science industry
- Experience working in 3rd party lab testing space is highly preferred
- Experience using Salesforce or other types of CRM platforms
- Proficient computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, etc.)
- Detail oriented with strong organizational skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to cooperate with coworkers within an organized team environment or work independently
- Positive attitude and desire to collaborate across departments
- Desire to go above and beyond and not only meet, but exceed, client expectations

- Detail-oriented with strong ability to multi-task within a fast-paced environment with multiple competing deadlines
- Ability to effectively communicate in English, including the ability to see, hear, read, and write clear English and follow/retain detailed written and verbal instruction in an accurate, timely, safe, and professional manner with manager, group members, and other departments, as necessary
- Ability to manage time effectively to complete assignments in expected time frames and independently seek out additional work when tasks are completed ahead of time
- Ability to process a large volume of work
- Flexible and adaptable to effectively operate within a rapidly growing and continually evolving business
- Ability to put aside personal opinions and focus on business, department, and/or group needs
